A HIGH POWERED POLISH DELEGATION IS IN EC

A high powered delegation from the Pomeranian region of Poland is in the province of the Eastern Cape on a five-day visit aimed at 
establishing close and strong economic development relations.

Pomeranian Provinces President Mr. Jan Zarebski is leading a 10-member delegation of top government and business leaders, which arrived in 
Port Elizabeth yesterday. Mr. Zarebski and Eastern Cape Premier Rev. Makhenkesi Stofile are set to sign a cooperation agreement on 
Saturday, February 26, 2000 at the City Hall in Port Elizabeth at 08:00 (in the morning).   The visit reciprocates Premier Makhenkesi 
Stofiles visit to Poland early last year.

The Polish Province (region) is expected to bring into the relationship expertise in Port development and management, shipping industry, 
fish and marine industry as well as agriculture and food production. While the Eastern Cape with its development potential is set top 
provide investment opportunities especially with the focus placed on the development of East London, Port Elizabeth and Coega ports. The 
visit is also set to lay a ground for joint ventures or partnerships with local business interests in for an example agriculture as well as 
fishing and marine industry.

Over the days the delegation is set to meet business delegations as well as the Centre for Investment and Marketing of the Eastern Cape 
(Cimec) in Port Elizabeth and East London. Today in PE the delegation met business representatives from the Port Elizabeth Regional Chamber 
of Commerce and Industry as well as Cimec at the City Hall.They will meet MEC for Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr Enoch Godongwana, local 
business people and the EL IDZ Agency at various times in the City Hall.

* 11:00  Presentations by East London IDZ Agency on trade and investment opportunities in the East London Area and the Polish business 
delegation.

* 08:30  Signing of co-operation agreement at the Mayors Parlor  City Hall in Port Elizabeth.
